No post

It's another no post day. I am cleaning my room today. I am having a stampin up party on Sunday. So that means I have to get my room in some kind of order. Soooo since I don't have anything scrapbook or card related, here's a picture to make you smile. Well it does me at least. A picture from our disney trip. I've already begun working on our album(s). I took so many pictures it's going to take more than one album. Later, A

Disney Trip

We are back from Disney. We had so much fun. The kids enjoyed it all except for NASA, which is the part that Chad and I were looking forward to. We were hoping to see the shuttle launch but it got struck by lightening the day before. All in all it was a good trip. We were all glad to be home. This is a picture of us on our day at EPCOT. I am hoping to get pictures printed soon so I can start on our scrapbook. Mom is here again this week so I'm not sure how much I'll get done. I've got to get my room clean this week too. I can't find anything and I have absolutely no work space. Now that we don't have much else planned for the summer, I am hoping to post regularly and start working on more challenges etc.

GASC

I went to the GASC last weekend in Arlington. I counted howmany layouts I brought home. I counted up 14 2 page layouts and 8 single layouts. I still have 5 kits to put together. I bought several disney kits for our upcoming trip to disney in a few weeks. The kids have all been at their mamaw's this week so I have been spending most of my awake time in my room and not doing any housework other than has been necessary.

I don't have any pics of anything I completed yet. But here are some cards I completed before the comvention. They aren't the greatest. I have been experimenting with digital stamps. Some of these are freebies from Dustin Pike and K's Card Creations. Here they are...

Knitting

Finally, I am posting. I don't know where I've been. My laptop has and still is down and so I am reluctant to get on the desktop. It just doesn't feel like my computer anymore. I don't have my bookmarks, it just doesn't feel right.

Ok enough of that.

My last post I said that my mom was teaching me how to knit. Well here's the dishrag I started on so I could learn the stitches.

I quickly put that down to start on the socks I wanted to make. Here's what I have so far...

I dropped a stitch or something and have a big hole. I am going to have to go back now and try to figure out what I did wrong. So in the meantime, I found this idea for a prayer shawl. Needless to say, I started one for my mother in law for Christmas. I already have the length of one arm done. There are lots of mistakes in it. I'm thinking I may have to keep it and make another one for her.

Friday, May 1, 2009

My mother is here this week teaching me how to knit. I am also helping her with a scrapbook of her recent trip to Florida. We've been super busy. I haven't been posting because when we get together we spend all of our time playing. We are lucky to get supper cooked. When she leaves this weekend, I'll get on here and post pics of my dishrag. I'm also working on a pair of socks. I know not the easiest thing to start on.

I'll hopefully get some news on the DT I've tried out for. We'll see.

Eye Candy

I have a card to show you. This one meets multiple requirements. I love when that happens!! First there is this new company starting up. They are having a design team call. It is called Digiments. Here's the website... http://digiments.blogspot.com/ . This is the card I made for tryouts for that call...
It also meets the sketch requirements for this weeks Mojo Monday challence. I like the way it turned out. I usually make half a dozen different cards or more for a design team tryout but this time is different. My mom may be coming in next week and if she does, then we will be working on all sorts of projects. She's going to teach me to knit. I found a sock pattern that I want to make. Let you know how that goes. Got to get back to the sleeping bag sacks.

Checking in

I think I'm getting back into the groove. My laptop is kind of back. We still don't have the battery we ordered at the first of the month. Today I'm working on some sacks for the kids sleeping bags. I'll be back later to post pics of those when I get done. I hope they turn out like the picture in my head. So I've got to go get busy so I'll have something to post later.

Finally a Post!!!

It's been forever since I posted. Do you feel deglected?? Here are the plans. Today is laundry day and get the house in order day. It's not in bad shape so hopefully I can get into my room this afternoon!! Yea!!

My laptop died. I'm waiting on a new battery. Hopefully that will fix it. So I have been on the desktop for a couple of weeks now. I don't have any of my bookmarks on this puter. I've felt like I've had one arm tied behind my back. I miss my laptop. I'm going to try to get things back to normal this week and back to posting on a more regular basis.

Got to get busy so I can play!!

Some Cards and Ramblings

I've been bad. I've not made it into my room in forever. I've been spending time with the family. So, here's some stuff from a few weeks ago that I never got around to posting.
This one I made when I got some new stamps and was dying to try it out. Just a simple shamrock. I used Polka Dot Punches.
This one I used Branch Out (SU!) I love this tree. I need to make more time to play with it. I can imagine so many things to do with this set!
This next one I made for my SIL. She was supposed to have breast reduction surgery. It got moved because she developed an infection so they could not do the surgery. I'll have to come up with something else for when she actually has it. I used my nesties and then cut the circle in half. Took a couple of thin strips to make the straps. Easy as pie.
That's all for today. I've been cleaning the house for Paul's birthday party this weekend. I'm working on getting my scrap room clean today. Hopefully I'll get things cleaned up by tomorrow and I'll be able to play some. I sure do miss it!!

Misc...

Oh my gosh I did not know that it had been so long since I posted. I have not been working in my room lately. Here are my excuses, I got started on the Twilight series so for a week and a half or so, I did nothing but read in my spare time. Then I got caught up in life. My hubby has been working super long hours. He's been leaving at about 6am and not getting home until somewhere between 9 and 11pm. So I've basically been a single parent for the last 2 months. We've got a big bump in the road of marraige to get over right now and that has and will continue to take presidence. I am going to try to get back in the groove today. I got the laundry mostly finished yesterday. I'm finishing up the jeans and towels today. The house is mostly clean. Besides I am sore from working in the flower beds this weekend and can hardly move. I need some stamp therapy. Soooo I am working in my room today. I hopefully will get something done. I am being a bad parent, Joseph is parked in front of the tv watching sesame street. But on the other hand I will be a better parent, and wife if I have a therapy session. Wish me luck.

OH just in case you haven't seen yet...GinaK is starting her previews today. You have got to see the Easter set. It has the gorgeous cross. What are you doing reading this?? Get over and look at it. You are going to LOVE it!!

Addictions

I have a new found addiction. It is one of the reasons I have not been productive in my scrap room. I have gotten HOOKED on the twilight series. OMG!! I love it!! I bought book one, read it over the weekend. On Monday, which is Laundry Day, Wal-Mart Day, In general, Chore Day, I bought book two. I finished it that night. Like I said, I am HOOKED. Yesterday(Tuesday) I went to Hastings to see if they had the paperbacks for 3 and 4. They did not. I knew by looking at the price that I could get the hardbacks cheaper at wal-mart. So off we went. I am only about halfway through the 3rd one. I've been trying really hard to get some work done around the house. I'm hosting a Stampin Up! party at my house on Sunday. I've got to get my house and scrap room picked up but this addiction keeps getting in the way. Anyway, this is why I've been MIA lately. When I get finished with these books I am so going to have withdrawl.

The Kindness of Strangers

Joseph and I went out to get the mail this afternoon. While we were out by the road. The neighbor across the road hollered at us. (We've never met them in the 4 years since we've been here) He asked me if I wanted some iris bulbs he had just dug up. yea I got flowers for valentines day!! So Joseph and I planted them out by the concrete bench. Bad news is I got some fire ant bites on my hand and now it is swelling and itching. Got to take the bad with the good. Can't wait until they bloom!!

Sketch Saturday #37

This is the card I made for Sketch Saturday's sketch #37.

I finally got to use my new stamps from GinaK. The cupcake is from the new Sweetest Blessings. I also used my new Nesties. I got 4 new sets this week. Hobby Lobby had them on 30%. I got circles, squares, rectangles, and hearts.

Thursday's accomplishments

Thursday is story hour at the library. I did not feel well Thursday. We went anyway. I holed up in my room the rest of the day and this is what I got done.

I can't take credit for this one. This is a kit from Lickety Split Scrapbooks. I got it a year or two ago at GASC in Arlington.

I seem to have used the same layout for these next two. Oh well, you find something that works why not stick to it.

I'm working in my room today, so I will have some things to show you later.

Blog changes

Today is Tuesday. That means after school it is off to the brownie meeting, then a quick potty break and off to the cubscout meeting. I am in charge of the cub scout meeting tonight, so we have to go. Nuts. Right now as I am typing this I've got my cricut running cutting out a zillion fleur-de-leis. The blue and gold banquet is next week and we have to make table decorations. I hate having to make table decorations. 9 and 10 year old boys do not like to make table decorations.

Ok time to regroup. I was playing on the puter last night and decided to change the look of the blog. I still don't know how to do a bunch but I am slowly figuring it out. Hope you like it.

Off to work on scout stuff. Hopefully I'll get to come back in my room later this afternoon. It's not looking good. At least not until after bedtime.

Pages from Friday night

I said I was going to post after my friend and I got together last Friday. Well, my plans were changed for me. Tracy came over on Friday as planned. I did not get anything done. She wanted me to help her sew on a page. She had not done that before. That was ok, but it took all night.

Around 11:30 as Tracy was packing up to leave, I heard one of the kids making noise. It was Joseph. He was sick. It was a long night for both of us. He finally quit throwing up at 5 am. So Saturday I was useless. Chad has been working long hours, so we just lazed around all day. Sunday, I still wasn't up to speed. When my sleep gets interruped or I don't get a full night's rest, I get migraines. Anyway Sunday we played Wii all day.

So now that I'm done rambling, here are the pages I did Friday...

This first one is when we could still put Joseph in the play pen to get him out from under foot. I had gone to a workshop to make a scrapbook in an evening. It is one of those small 6x6 albums. Well I took a couple of those pages and slapped them together, added a few more cardstock stickers and called it done. I don't think I was really in the scrapbooking mood that night.

This one was the one I was working on when I was summoned by Joseph.

This one I did yesterday afternoon. The kids were out of school because of ice. So I did not get much play time. They are all pretty much self sufficient now but it is still hard to get things done when they are home. I colored the paisley with my new Koh-i-noor pencils. I love those things already and I just got them on Monday. They are smooth as butter.

Well that's all for now. It is almost time to leave for storytime. Hopefully I'll be able to get into my room to play this afternoon when we get back.

ramblings

I am afraid I don't have anything to post today. Thursdays is storytime at the library. Of course it is in the middle of the day, so I get nothing done. It is Joseph's only chance to get out and see other kids his age. Plus the trip into town is cheaper than preschool. When we get the car paid off he will definately be going back to preschool!! For his sake and mine.

By the way, make sure you check out GinaK's store. She just had a new release last night. I have already placed my order and can't wait to get my new toys in.

I'm off to clean my scrap room. My friend Tracy is coming over tonight and we are going to scrap. Hopefully I'll have something to show you. If we can get busy and not spend the night talking and eating.

more cards

I was going to post this yesterday, however, I sat down on the couch in front of the tv to fold some clothes. I got hooked on watching history be made. The whole inagural process was fascinating.
Ok here are some more cards I made for some design team tryouts. These are some that I am not submitting. Since I am new to the world of submitting, I am not sure of the proper protocol so I am sitting on the ones I am submitting until everything is said and done. Unless of course the instructions say to post what you've done on your blog. I am rambling again. Back to business.
This one is for cardpatterns.blogspot.com. Check the blog for the sketch. I haven't learned how to link from my blog to theirs yet.
Ok, the story behind this one. Laura came into my room and said" Whatcha doing momma?" So I showed her what I was working on. She looked at the sketch and said " It looks like a snowman when you turn it like this." So I turned the sketch on it's side and here's the results:

Recipe:
paper - whisper white, riding hood red, pink pirouette (SU!)
stamps - All Decked Out (CTMH), misc dollar stamps that have no name on them
ink - riding hood red

This next one is based on the same sketch. I have a love for snoopy. You will see him pop up from time to time here. He is just the coolest. Once I turned this sketch on it's side, it was the only way I could seem to use it. Whatever works I guess.

recipe:
paper - whisper white (SU!), everything else is from my scrap bin
ink - basic black (SU!)
stamp - snoopy walking (Stampabilities)

This next one was for a challenge at caardvarks. The next challenge is polka dots. Maybe I'll make it on time for that one. I've been sitting on this for a week and just haven't sat down at the puter to enter. Oh well better luck next time.

recipe:
paper - old olive, summer picnic (SU!)
ink - pure red, evergreen (zig)
stamps - tart n tangy, jumbo outline (SU!)

My Sketch World is looking for new designers too. They want both cardmakers and scrapbookers. I thought I'd start with the card sketch. Here's one I'm not submitting.

recipe:
paper - black tie optional (imaginisce), whisper white (SU!)
misc - felt flowers (american crafts), garnet glitter (martha stewart), chipboard from my stash
Well I think that's all I have for today.

design team tryout

Ok I mentioned the other day that I've been working on some things for some design teams. Since I have never been on a design team, I am starting with sketch design teams. Anyway, I'm prepared to post some of what I've done. This is the first one I am trying for...

Inspirational Card Sketches

Here is the website with all the details for the call:

http://icsketches.blogspot.com/2009/01/inspirational-card-sketches-dt-call.html

This is the sketch we are supposed to use...

I love this sketch. It is simple yet there is room for all kinds of potential. I stayed simple with what I have done.

This first one is Chad's fav. I think it might be mine too. I turned the sketch on it's side and changed the circle to a rectangle.

recipe:
paper - SU! chocolate chip, the rest is misc scraps from my scrap bin.
stamps - Horseshoes, Out West (CTMH)
copics - E35
nestabilities

This one is a favorite of mine too. Mainly because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Snoopy!!

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, misc red and black from my scrap bin.
copics - YG67 (for the grass snoop is walking on)
ink - SU! basic black
rubons - the Paper studio
nestabilities

The next one is a simple one.

recipe:
paper - SU! summer sun, misc red and black from my scrap bin
ticket punch
chipboard from my stash
acrylic paints

This one I took a slightly skewed take on the sketch.

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, misc blue from scrap bin
copics - BG93, YG67, E04, V17, C-1, G99
stamps - Unfroggettable SU!

This one is a bit of a stretch too.

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, chocolate chip
stamps - Whoo Loves You (CTMH)
inks - chocolate chip, really rust, old olive

I will be using this sketch more. I have so many ideas for it. I'm off to make more cards!

More Ramblings

Ok today was one of those days where you do a bunch of stuff but have nothing to show for it. I've got the house pretty much presentable for our company tomorrow. I did not get my card scanned. I am hoping to have time in the morning or I will definately do it on Monday. The kids are out of school and we will probably play and watch tv all day. Until then...Later Tater

Ramblings

No I have not dropped off the face of the planet. I have actually been making lots of cards. I am working on one of my resolutions to try to get on a design team. I am starting with some sketch teams. I have been working around the house in the mornings and then coming to my room in the afternoons for a couple of hours each day this week. I have promised Joseph that after lunch I am going to sit down with him and we are going to watch a movie together since it is so cold and we can't go outside to play today. Then tonight or tomorrow morning I am going to take pics of everything I have been working on and decide what I'm going to submit etc. and make a post. I have not been doing good at keeping up with posts. I want to get in the habit of doing that. I do better with goal that have deadlines. I think that if I was on a design team that would help. I am also going to my SU! club tomorrow afternoon so I will try to post what we make too. Paul is having his friend Noah over this weekend so that means I need to get the house picked up. His mom comes too usually and we sit and gab or work on something while the boys play. Til later

Friday, January 2, 2009

Ok I've been a slacker... Last month was not crazy busy. I know... not normal. For some reason I was still unable to get everything that I wanted done. When the kids got out of school my allergies started acting up. They have been haywire since the Sunday before Christmas. Basically I have done no more than was necessary. One day I'll feel ok. The next I'll feel horrible. I hope this ends soon!!

I have been able to make it into my room and do some work. I have mainly just been printing pics to work on when I feel better.
I have had days when I've actually felt like doing something. Here's a few of the pages I've gotten done...
