Projects

Ok here's what I've been working on. This is a quilt that I started back when we were switching Laura from her crib to her big bed. We were doing her room in moons and stars. This was the first quilt I ever put together by myself. Needless to say I have learned a great deal since then. I have been wanting to finish this for years but could not make myself because I knew it was not good work. Hardly any of my points matched. I just felt it was ugly. I finally made myself finish it last week. I am slowly trying to finish up projects that I have started, so I can make room for more of course.

This next item is a dress for Laura's Build a Bear. Here it is on mine (only mine's a dog). I have another dress for her bear that matches a dress for her. I don't think I will get them finished before Christmas though. We'll see.

Christmas Cards

I've been playing in my room finally. I've been trying to decide what to do for our Christmas cards. I've made a bunch and still can't decide which one I like best.

I like this one because it is not traditional Christmas colors. I used Chalet argyle paper from Chatterbox, old olive for the strip. I stamped the Christmas stamp out of the So Many Scallops set.

This one is using old olive for the background, stampin up designer Christmas paper from last year, So Many Scallops stamp set again, River Rock stitched ribbon. The red paper is riding hood red.

I think this is one of my favorites. I used Mr. Twigster. I think he is adorable.
Here's what I used for this one: paper - whisper white, bashful blue, stamps - mr. twigster, some snowflakes I got at walmart stamped with Versamark ( I threw away the packaging and don't remember who's they are). Merry Christmas sentiment is from A Cardinal Christmas. ribbon - don't know where I got it, it was just some white see through stuff that looked cool.

This stamped image is my favorite. I'm just not very happy with the final product.
stamps - aida cloth in close to cocoa, sprig thing is from A Cardinal Christmas. I used my zig markers in evergreen and spice to ink it up. Then I spritzed it with my water bottle.
paper - SU designer christmas paper from this year.
other misc - black brads

Can you tell I love A Cardinal Christmas??? I used 2 colors on this whole thing, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. The ribbon was some $1 a spool stuff I got at BigLots. Can you tell I like a good deal??

This one is because of a class I took at the Great American Scrapbook Convention this past summer. I took a class by Stamps by Judith. Love her stamps!!! I used fall flair to do something similar to what we did in the class I took. I don't remember what colors I used. They were all greens. Oh and a red too.

I take back what I said earlier...I think this is my favorite image. I love this bird. I used my copics to color it. Once again I'm not happy with the final product but I love the image.

Well, that's what I've been working on the last couple of days. Before that I've been trying to finish up some sewing projects. I'm going to take pics this afternoon and try to post. Got to go fix lunch for Joseph.

Dress for Laura

This is a dress I am making for Laura for Christmas. My first time to ever make a dress by a pattern. First time to ever put a zipper in. I'm finished with it except for handwork. I've got to take out all the basting. I'm going to wait until I give it to her at Christmas to hem it. That way it will be at the right length. The fabric has little chickens on it.

This week's project

Here's one of my projects this week. The finish on our coffee table was badly damaged. It has been the spot where the kids play. There have been many car races on this table. There was also a big gash that appeared after our last move. At least I think that's when it appeared. The finish had been worn completely down to the bare wood around the edges. My mom made the comment "That happens when you put your feet on the table." I quickly straightened her out and reminded her that it was where the boys play and it was more than likely from their arms when they play. She responded "Oh, I bet you're right. I hadn't thought of that." Anyway that was probably too much info. This first pic is after I had removed the finish and was ready to apply stain. That was Monday's project. It rained Tuesday, so we did not get to go outside to work. Today, we applied stain this morning. That is the second pic. I'll start on the sealer tomorrow. I'll try to post pics after that too.

Cards

Here are a couple of cards I've made recently:
The first is what I made for Joseph's Birthday invites.

I used the tractor from the By Land Set from SU! I used Garden Green and Summer Sun. Oh I almost forgot Black. The tracks are in Choc. Chip with the Making Tracks wheel.

The next is from a set of note cards I made for Laura. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey. The solid paper is Bazzill. I used my just right for the image. It is only 1pm . Maybe I can get something else done and posted before I go get the kids. Wish me luck.

No Title

Another post with nothing to show. I will catch you up on what we've been up to. This past weekend we went to the Plano Balloon Festival. We had a great time but I think we like to Longview one better. You can actually walk between the balloons during the glow and talk to the pilots and crew members in Longview.

Chad was off work yesterday so we did some running around. Then I had a scout leader meeting after supper. Tonight we've got a den meeting. Tomorrow I'm getting the house in order and then I'm working in my room. My mom gave me a twin size bed and I've had to rearrange my scrapbook room to fit it in. That's my excuse for not having anything to show. So I have to finish my room and get things straightened up so I can work. I've also been working on sewing projects instead of scrapbooks and cards. I've got a huge stack of hand work to do now. I've got to get something finished so I'll have something to show. Got to go run some errands before I pick up the kids.

no post

Well I said I was going to post everyday, so here is my post. I don't have anything pretty to show but, I am posting. Will you let me get by on that technicality. I was hoping to get into my room and work but that does not look like it is going to happen. It is almost 2pm. I leave to pick up the kids at 3. We leave our school and go across town to another school for a brownie meeting which will last until at least 4:45. Then we come home grab a quick bite to eat and head back out to town for a cub scout pack meeting. Which probably will last until 8:30. Then it's home, baths and bed. I have been sewing patches on uniforms all morning. Paul is moving up to the tan boy scout uniform this year and of course I waited until the last minute to get the new shirt. Long story short...I don't have anything pretty to show today. Oh just remembered...probably won't have anything tomorrow either, I'm going to go help judge at the county fair. I'm not actually judging, I'm going with a friend who is judging. I will for sure give my two cents. Got to go swing on the tire swing. Joseph can't wait any longer.

Birthday card

Well, we made it through without getting any damage from Ike. By the time he got here he was downgraded to a Tropical Storm. We only got 2 inches of rain. My garden looks like it has been beat to death though. Joseph and I have plans to tend to it after lunch. I've got some lettuce seeds to plant for a fall crop, so we have to get rid of the squash and beans that have died. Enought of that, on to more fun things.

I have got to get into a better practice of posting. Life keeps getting in the way for some reason. Today is a Monday so let's see if I can post every day for a week, well monday thru friday. Here's a card I made yesterday for my MIL's birthday.
recipe:
stamp - Simple Birthday Thanks (Stampin Up)
Cardstock - Tangerine Tango
I colored it with my copics and then put crystal effects on the cherry to make it shiny.
We are off to work outside now while it is nice.

Finally a post!!!

Well, so much for posting something tomorrow. After the strep throat, it was one thing then another. I have hardly gotten into my room. I have however gotten some sewing done. I do not have pics yet. My mom has been visiting us the last couple of weeks due to emergency gall bladder surgery. We had been planning on her coming down for a visit anyway, so once she started feeling better we started sewing. She goes back sometime this weekend and after that I hope to get back to a somewhat normal scedule and start posting regularly. Whew that was a long sentence.

This is the only thing I have to post right now. It is a picture frame I made last week when a friend came over. She had seen the others I had done of my other 2 kids. This is the result.

Till next time. I'll get the camera out when mom leaves and post some pics of the quilts we have been working on. And yes, I mean quilts. I also have some smocked dresses etc that I made for Laura. Later Tater

Strep Throat

Well, I got nothing done this weekend. My oldest decided it was time to come down with Strep Throat. He never complains, so when he said his throat hurt, off we went to the doctor on a Saturday afternoon. The doctor gave him a choice of a shot or pills for 10 days. Surprise, he chose the pills. Now he's complaining that they are too big and he doesn't want to take them anymore cause he feels better.

Besides him feeling bad, I started feeling bad. I got some sort of stomach bug. So I have not felt like even walking into my scrapbook room. I'm feeling better today, so I'm trying to get caught up on laundry and cleaning so I can spend some time in my room the rest of the week.

Even though I have been sitting on the couch not wanting to move, I have been working on the shirts I've been smocking for Laura. I hope to be able to post pics of those soon!! I've been working on those for a long time. Hope to have pics of something tomorrow.

1st post

I'm trying to catch up on the stacks and stacks of stuff I'm behind on. I've got the kids home for the summer so I thought what better to do than get caught up on scrapping school awards. Start with small goals right?!

This first one is P when he was in the first grade obviously. I used bazzill cardstock (don't know which shade of red), and patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Color Me Silly collection

This one was done using bazzill cardstock and patterned paper from Basic Grey's Color Me Silly collection again.

The last one was done using (Surprise!!) Basic Grey's Color Me Silly collection. I also used some rub-ons out of my collection. I
have no idea who they're from. I tried to mimic the white around the class portraitby sanding the edges of his picture but you really can't tell it on this small picture. Well that's it for now. Until next time...
