Sketch Saturday #37

This is the card I made for Sketch Saturday's sketch #37.

I finally got to use my new stamps from GinaK. The cupcake is from the new Sweetest Blessings. I also used my new Nesties. I got 4 new sets this week. Hobby Lobby had them on 30%. I got circles, squares, rectangles, and hearts.

Thursday's accomplishments

Thursday is story hour at the library. I did not feel well Thursday. We went anyway. I holed up in my room the rest of the day and this is what I got done.

I can't take credit for this one. This is a kit from Lickety Split Scrapbooks. I got it a year or two ago at GASC in Arlington.

I seem to have used the same layout for these next two. Oh well, you find something that works why not stick to it.

I'm working in my room today, so I will have some things to show you later.

Blog changes

Today is Tuesday. That means after school it is off to the brownie meeting, then a quick potty break and off to the cubscout meeting. I am in charge of the cub scout meeting tonight, so we have to go. Nuts. Right now as I am typing this I've got my cricut running cutting out a zillion fleur-de-leis. The blue and gold banquet is next week and we have to make table decorations. I hate having to make table decorations. 9 and 10 year old boys do not like to make table decorations.

Ok time to regroup. I was playing on the puter last night and decided to change the look of the blog. I still don't know how to do a bunch but I am slowly figuring it out. Hope you like it.

Off to work on scout stuff. Hopefully I'll get to come back in my room later this afternoon. It's not looking good. At least not until after bedtime.

yesterday's pages

here are a couple of pages I did yesterday afternoon. When we first moved into this house, we had to have some dirt brought in. We need lots more. It's a work in progress. These pages are of the kids playing on the dirt piles. Enjoy!

Pages from Friday night

I said I was going to post after my friend and I got together last Friday. Well, my plans were changed for me. Tracy came over on Friday as planned. I did not get anything done. She wanted me to help her sew on a page. She had not done that before. That was ok, but it took all night.

Around 11:30 as Tracy was packing up to leave, I heard one of the kids making noise. It was Joseph. He was sick. It was a long night for both of us. He finally quit throwing up at 5 am. So Saturday I was useless. Chad has been working long hours, so we just lazed around all day. Sunday, I still wasn't up to speed. When my sleep gets interruped or I don't get a full night's rest, I get migraines. Anyway Sunday we played Wii all day.

So now that I'm done rambling, here are the pages I did Friday...

This first one is when we could still put Joseph in the play pen to get him out from under foot. I had gone to a workshop to make a scrapbook in an evening. It is one of those small 6x6 albums. Well I took a couple of those pages and slapped them together, added a few more cardstock stickers and called it done. I don't think I was really in the scrapbooking mood that night.

This one was the one I was working on when I was summoned by Joseph.

This one I did yesterday afternoon. The kids were out of school because of ice. So I did not get much play time. They are all pretty much self sufficient now but it is still hard to get things done when they are home. I colored the paisley with my new Koh-i-noor pencils. I love those things already and I just got them on Monday. They are smooth as butter.

Well that's all for now. It is almost time to leave for storytime. Hopefully I'll be able to get into my room to play this afternoon when we get back.

ramblings

I am afraid I don't have anything to post today. Thursdays is storytime at the library. Of course it is in the middle of the day, so I get nothing done. It is Joseph's only chance to get out and see other kids his age. Plus the trip into town is cheaper than preschool. When we get the car paid off he will definately be going back to preschool!! For his sake and mine.

By the way, make sure you check out GinaK's store. She just had a new release last night. I have already placed my order and can't wait to get my new toys in.

I'm off to clean my scrap room. My friend Tracy is coming over tonight and we are going to scrap. Hopefully I'll have something to show you. If we can get busy and not spend the night talking and eating.

more cards

I was going to post this yesterday, however, I sat down on the couch in front of the tv to fold some clothes. I got hooked on watching history be made. The whole inagural process was fascinating.
Ok here are some more cards I made for some design team tryouts. These are some that I am not submitting. Since I am new to the world of submitting, I am not sure of the proper protocol so I am sitting on the ones I am submitting until everything is said and done. Unless of course the instructions say to post what you've done on your blog. I am rambling again. Back to business.
This one is for cardpatterns.blogspot.com. Check the blog for the sketch. I haven't learned how to link from my blog to theirs yet.
Ok, the story behind this one. Laura came into my room and said" Whatcha doing momma?" So I showed her what I was working on. She looked at the sketch and said " It looks like a snowman when you turn it like this." So I turned the sketch on it's side and here's the results:

Recipe:
paper - whisper white, riding hood red, pink pirouette (SU!)
stamps - All Decked Out (CTMH), misc dollar stamps that have no name on them
ink - riding hood red

This next one is based on the same sketch. I have a love for snoopy. You will see him pop up from time to time here. He is just the coolest. Once I turned this sketch on it's side, it was the only way I could seem to use it. Whatever works I guess.

recipe:
paper - whisper white (SU!), everything else is from my scrap bin
ink - basic black (SU!)
stamp - snoopy walking (Stampabilities)

This next one was for a challenge at caardvarks. The next challenge is polka dots. Maybe I'll make it on time for that one. I've been sitting on this for a week and just haven't sat down at the puter to enter. Oh well better luck next time.

recipe:
paper - old olive, summer picnic (SU!)
ink - pure red, evergreen (zig)
stamps - tart n tangy, jumbo outline (SU!)

My Sketch World is looking for new designers too. They want both cardmakers and scrapbookers. I thought I'd start with the card sketch. Here's one I'm not submitting.

recipe:
paper - black tie optional (imaginisce), whisper white (SU!)
misc - felt flowers (american crafts), garnet glitter (martha stewart), chipboard from my stash
Well I think that's all I have for today.

design team tryout

Ok I mentioned the other day that I've been working on some things for some design teams. Since I have never been on a design team, I am starting with sketch design teams. Anyway, I'm prepared to post some of what I've done. This is the first one I am trying for...

Inspirational Card Sketches

Here is the website with all the details for the call:

http://icsketches.blogspot.com/2009/01/inspirational-card-sketches-dt-call.html

This is the sketch we are supposed to use...

I love this sketch. It is simple yet there is room for all kinds of potential. I stayed simple with what I have done.

This first one is Chad's fav. I think it might be mine too. I turned the sketch on it's side and changed the circle to a rectangle.

recipe:
paper - SU! chocolate chip, the rest is misc scraps from my scrap bin.
stamps - Horseshoes, Out West (CTMH)
copics - E35
nestabilities

This one is a favorite of mine too. Mainly because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Snoopy!!

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, misc red and black from my scrap bin.
copics - YG67 (for the grass snoop is walking on)
ink - SU! basic black
rubons - the Paper studio
nestabilities

The next one is a simple one.

recipe:
paper - SU! summer sun, misc red and black from my scrap bin
ticket punch
chipboard from my stash
acrylic paints

This one I took a slightly skewed take on the sketch.

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, misc blue from scrap bin
copics - BG93, YG67, E04, V17, C-1, G99
stamps - Unfroggettable SU!

This one is a bit of a stretch too.

recipe:
paper - SU! whisper white, chocolate chip
stamps - Whoo Loves You (CTMH)
inks - chocolate chip, really rust, old olive

I will be using this sketch more. I have so many ideas for it. I'm off to make more cards!

More Ramblings

Ok today was one of those days where you do a bunch of stuff but have nothing to show for it. I've got the house pretty much presentable for our company tomorrow. I did not get my card scanned. I am hoping to have time in the morning or I will definately do it on Monday. The kids are out of school and we will probably play and watch tv all day. Until then...Later Tater

Ramblings

No I have not dropped off the face of the planet. I have actually been making lots of cards. I am working on one of my resolutions to try to get on a design team. I am starting with some sketch teams. I have been working around the house in the mornings and then coming to my room in the afternoons for a couple of hours each day this week. I have promised Joseph that after lunch I am going to sit down with him and we are going to watch a movie together since it is so cold and we can't go outside to play today. Then tonight or tomorrow morning I am going to take pics of everything I have been working on and decide what I'm going to submit etc. and make a post. I have not been doing good at keeping up with posts. I want to get in the habit of doing that. I do better with goal that have deadlines. I think that if I was on a design team that would help. I am also going to my SU! club tomorrow afternoon so I will try to post what we make too. Paul is having his friend Noah over this weekend so that means I need to get the house picked up. His mom comes too usually and we sit and gab or work on something while the boys play. Til later

Ok I've been a slacker... Last month was not crazy busy. I know... not normal. For some reason I was still unable to get everything that I wanted done. When the kids got out of school my allergies started acting up. They have been haywire since the Sunday before Christmas. Basically I have done no more than was necessary. One day I'll feel ok. The next I'll feel horrible. I hope this ends soon!!

I have been able to make it into my room and do some work. I have mainly just been printing pics to work on when I feel better.
I have had days when I've actually felt like doing something. Here's a few of the pages I've gotten done...

Projects

Ok here's what I've been working on. This is a quilt that I started back when we were switching Laura from her crib to her big bed. We were doing her room in moons and stars. This was the first quilt I ever put together by myself. Needless to say I have learned a great deal since then. I have been wanting to finish this for years but could not make myself because I knew it was not good work. Hardly any of my points matched. I just felt it was ugly. I finally made myself finish it last week. I am slowly trying to finish up projects that I have started, so I can make room for more of course.

This next item is a dress for Laura's Build a Bear. Here it is on mine (only mine's a dog). I have another dress for her bear that matches a dress for her. I don't think I will get them finished before Christmas though. We'll see.

Christmas Cards

I've been playing in my room finally. I've been trying to decide what to do for our Christmas cards. I've made a bunch and still can't decide which one I like best.

I like this one because it is not traditional Christmas colors. I used Chalet argyle paper from Chatterbox, old olive for the strip. I stamped the Christmas stamp out of the So Many Scallops set.

This one is using old olive for the background, stampin up designer Christmas paper from last year, So Many Scallops stamp set again, River Rock stitched ribbon. The red paper is riding hood red.

I think this is one of my favorites. I used Mr. Twigster. I think he is adorable.
Here's what I used for this one: paper - whisper white, bashful blue, stamps - mr. twigster, some snowflakes I got at walmart stamped with Versamark ( I threw away the packaging and don't remember who's they are). Merry Christmas sentiment is from A Cardinal Christmas. ribbon - don't know where I got it, it was just some white see through stuff that looked cool.

This stamped image is my favorite. I'm just not very happy with the final product.
stamps - aida cloth in close to cocoa, sprig thing is from A Cardinal Christmas. I used my zig markers in evergreen and spice to ink it up. Then I spritzed it with my water bottle.
paper - SU designer christmas paper from this year.
other misc - black brads

Can you tell I love A Cardinal Christmas??? I used 2 colors on this whole thing, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. The ribbon was some $1 a spool stuff I got at BigLots. Can you tell I like a good deal??

This one is because of a class I took at the Great American Scrapbook Convention this past summer. I took a class by Stamps by Judith. Love her stamps!!! I used fall flair to do something similar to what we did in the class I took. I don't remember what colors I used. They were all greens. Oh and a red too.

I take back what I said earlier...I think this is my favorite image. I love this bird. I used my copics to color it. Once again I'm not happy with the final product but I love the image.

Well, that's what I've been working on the last couple of days. Before that I've been trying to finish up some sewing projects. I'm going to take pics this afternoon and try to post. Got to go fix lunch for Joseph.

Dress for Laura

This is a dress I am making for Laura for Christmas. My first time to ever make a dress by a pattern. First time to ever put a zipper in. I'm finished with it except for handwork. I've got to take out all the basting. I'm going to wait until I give it to her at Christmas to hem it. That way it will be at the right length. The fabric has little chickens on it.
